Yay I can finally sleep tonight! The past two nights for me have been awful because I am so darn nervous about this H1N1 flu going around. When daddy got done work today A and I went to pick him up so we could just head right over to the clinic. Grandma C met us over there too so that she could get hers.
The line up was absolutely INSANE to say the least. A lady out the front of the clinic told me the wait was almost four hours!! It started inside the school where you would get your paperwork done and went all of the way outside. When we got there I went over to the one guy working the line and told him that we could not wait in a 3.5 hour line with A. He came over to A and said he would be right back. We then were taken all the way to the front of the line so we could get in and then out. Awesome!!!
So needless to say I feel much better knowing that it is done and over with. Now we just wait the required two weeks until it is effective.
I called A’s one company that sends me his PSWs on Monday and Friday and left a message saying that I was suspending all of his services until he was fully covered for the H1N1. Late this afternoon they called me back and left a message saying “as long as he hasn’t had a fever for five days then the workers can come back in.” What??? I don’t think they listened very well to my message and instead think that A has H1N1.
Anyways, yesterday we had a visit from Grandma S for the day. A was a big show off in his stander for her and he did such an amazing job at holding his head up. At one point daddy had the stander straight up and he held that head up for a good fifteen minutes!
He is not liking being placed in the stander but as soon as he is up and standing he is great. I think it is because he HATES to be held down and I really have to hold his legs down tight to get the straps done up in front of his knees. Just a feeling that he isn’t used to and doesn’t like. His PT said that he would probably only do about fifteen minutes at a time without complaining but he is doing MUCH longer than that each time! I think yesterday he spent about one and a half hours standing up. Gives him a whole new view of the world really when you think about it. Such a nice change to be upright instead of sitting in his chair or laying on the floor! Go little man!!!!
This child just LOVES his daddy!!!!
Hello everyone, we are home now. I have some pictures from the past few days but I am exhausted so I will be posting them tomorrow. We left around 4pm on Wednesday to head to St.Mary’s. We stayed with J’s Aunt Bev and Uncle Robert. His parents and sister were also there. We didn’t make it to the viewing at 2pm obviously but we did make it there in time to go to the visitation that was from 7-9pm. Wow I could not believe how many people came to the visitation! There were some people that waited two hours in line! Grandma was obviously a very special person to so many people! There were MANY people who knew who A was without asking and we did not know them. It goes to show how much grandma talked about him to everyone and how proud she was.
When the visitation was over they opened the casket for J and I since we were not able to be there earlier. I was a little bit hesitant to see her because in the past I just find that they never look the way that they did when they were alive. But she looked great. It was nice to see her and be able to say goodbye.
A was such a good boy while we were away. Everyone couldn’t believe how good he is and of course happy!
The funeral was on Thursday and the weather was just absolute chaos! J and I had planned to come home after the funeral but we ended up having to spend another night because there was no way that we were taking the chance on driving home in that weather.
Anyhow, the funeral was very nice and it was difficult to watch her casket being carried out by all of the boys in the family, placed into the car and then driving off. Her burial will not be until the spring. I did not realize that they don’t do burials in the winter at all.
So Thursday night there was a bunch of us that all hung out at Jeff’s aunt and uncles where we were staying. It was nice to see everyone because we never get to see anyone from that side of the family. It is kind of sad to say that the only time that we really see any of them is when there is a wedding or a funeral.
Anyhow, I really need to get to bed right now. We had a good couple days visiting considering the circumstances.
We left there today around 2pm and had to stop in Kitchener to get A’s two new moulds done for his hearing aids. (Lisa, I am sorry about our sort of planned play date, but we would not have been able to make it home on Thursday.)
I promise the pictures will be up tomorrow! (I didn’t really get many because I forgot my memory card, so Cindy if you are reading this please email me the pictures that you took!)
Well this morning I got a phone call that I really wish never happened. J’s mom called to tell me that his grandmother passed away early today. She was a wonderful lady and I am so happy that I got to know her. She was a very proud great grandma to A and bragged about him a lot. Here are a couple of pictures of her with A last summer.
You know, when things like this happen it really makes you step back and realize what you “should have done”. I really wish that we had of visited with her more and that she would have got to see A more. And I was looking through my pictures I realized that I don’t have that many of her with A. Let alone with J and I. It is definitely a lesson learned and shows how much you need to appreciate people before it is too late to do so.
Grandma, we love you and will miss you! I am so happy that A got to meet you as well and you are now another angel looking down over him. Thank you for all that you have done for us and the love and support you have given us over the years. (Especially during A’s long hospital stay, you were always concerned and thoughtful.)
On a brighter side today A has decided that he now likes to roll from his tummy to his back. He did this about five times today and I have it on video! I was soooo excited. The last time that he has rolled over was probably like six months ago and seemed more of a fluke than anything. I am so proud of him!
