Botox and CT Scan Done

Well A went into his procedure yesterday at 2:15pm. He was given a general anesthetic and then had botox injected into four of his saliva glands. They also did a CT scan at the same time of his lungs as I wanted this done. He did VERY well and I am so proud of him. I went into recovery about 4pm expecting to be sitting there holding him for a couple of hours but we were only in there about fifteen minutes and he came back up to his room. He was smiling and doing wonderful!

When he went to sleep last night he was satting in the 70s so I started getting worried because this isn’t typical for him to stay there constantly so I took his soother out and flipped him to his side and he was fine. He stayed at 90 for pretty much the rest of the night.

I haven’t noticed any difference at all yet with the saliva glands, but the doctor said it would be a couple of days. Fingers are staying crossed!

As for the CT, all the pulm doctor said was that there was some chronic changes but they were probably due to aspiration. Probably?! That isn’t a good enough answer for me but that was all he had to say. I will be speaking to someone else tomorrow.

I’ve been out of town and just caught up on your last week. You must be going out of your mind! The first time Ben threw up after the fundo I freaked out. And the not telling you! Holy crap I’d be pissed. Our on-call surgeon was useless saying that it was probably a good thing that he could get something up. They should actually call them I-was-sleeping-don’t-know-how-to-help you-even-if-I-wanted-to doctors. Is Ashton on any meds for his reflux? Ben never once complained about his reflux until after his fundo. He had experienced no pain while he was swollen so when he started refluxing again he didn’t like it and stopped eating. He takes Zantac 2X/day now to deal with the reflux discomfort. The thought is that we wanted to stop the aspiration and to stop his reflux all together we would have had to sew his stomach closed. I’m thinking of you guys and hope that you get some answers SOON. I also hope that you get more and good help for home. I can’t imagine what kind of toll this has taken on you. I hope that you get some good old relaxing with your little guy soon.

That is great news! It must be a nice change for him to do so well after being knocked out. I hope you get more details about his scan, and that the botox will be a good treatment option for little Ashton. We also had a chest CT to look for aspiration today. yuck.Think about you guys often. Hang in there. Maybe you can go home soon with some real answers.-Patty(Abby’s mom)

Hi Shannon, Jeff and my buddy Ashton,I am thinking of you all the time. I haven’t hung up the picture in my room yet that your mom gave me for my 22nd birthday. I love looking at all the pictures of everyone, especially you and Ashton. We just had soup, toast and a sandwich because I was soooo hungry! I am having cut up cantaloupe and huge grapes with a cookie. The grapes have pits!Your mom just called the vet and Bear is ok after having her surgery. She has to stay overnight and your mom picks her up tomorrow.Soon we are going to go outside to zoom around the block and look in your mom’s new truck.Cujo was howling and singing for the longest time ever this morning! Your mom said that the pillows from the couch were on the floor when she went down stairs. Cujo went outside then and tried to chase the robins, pulling your mom’s arm off!We are going to do dishes now, go outside and then do physio, my favorite, ha ha. Talk to you again soon. Big hug and kiss (smooch), thinking of you, hope you get out g.d. soon.Love Seanxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo……
